Indystory
A focused environment for novels, screenplays, and long-form nonfiction, designed around the internal architecture of a book rather than a generic blank document.
Why I built it
Word and Google Docs are general document editors. Wattpad is primarily a social publishing platform. Long-form authors need a system where scenes, chapters, chronology, research, characters, revision, and export belong together.
Indystory is also the environment I want for my own short novels, screenplays, and nonfiction, including The Seven Sages’ Guide to Happiness.
What I built
- A working product prototype for drafting and navigating long-form work.
- Early structures for projects, chapters, scenes, research, and focused writing.
- A private-beta direction that avoids invented cohorts, users, retention numbers, DAU, or MAU.
What it taught me
- A writing tool must reduce cognitive load without hiding the structure writers depend on.
- The best differentiation is not another AI button; it is a coherent model of the work itself.
