Dogood
A private journal that stays on your device. Write a few lines a day; Dogood brings them back on the same day each year, files them into the chapters of your life and turns your story into a book you can print.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants to keep a journal for years without handing it to a server.
What it does
- A page for each day with a title, a mood and photos.
- On this day — entries from earlier years come back on the same date.
- Chapters that file entries automatically, and full-text search.
- Goals with checklist steps, and habits ticked on each day's page, with streaks.
- A lifetime view across the years, with recaps of a month or a year to share.
- Print a book at home, or export files any print shop can print.
- Works offline, optional AES-256-GCM encryption, a PIN or Face ID, full backup and restore.
- Dogood Plus, paid once: unlimited photos, print-shop files, dictation and sync through your own Google Drive.
- A demo journal: Benjamin Franklin's life, as if he had kept it in Dogood. The name comes from his first pen name, Silence Dogood.
What I built
- A local-first journal with encryption, backups and offline support.
- On-this-day resurfacing, chapters, goals, habits and the lifetime view.
- A print pipeline that lays out a full book from the entries.
- Sync between devices through the writer's own Google Drive, with no Dogood server in between.
