Bike Shop Network
The website, customer app and back-office that bring cyclists into independent bike shops — online stock, test rides booked with a deposit, and workshop updates by SMS.
Who it is for
Independent bike shops that sell and repair bikes and want more customers through the door.
What it does
- A website on the shop's own domain with live stock, test-ride booking, workshop appointments and online payment.
- An installable customer app with a loyalty card, a garage for each bike, service reminders, repair tracking and gift cards.
- A back-office with a workshop kanban, stock synced with the till, and social publishing.
- Automatic service reminders by notification, email or SMS.
- Connects to Lightspeed Retail, Shopify, Stripe, Google Business Profile, Instagram and Facebook.
Why I built it
Before software, I sold more than CAD 200,000 of bicycles in a Montréal shop and helped move it to Lightspeed. Independent bicycle retail is fragmented across local websites, maps, directories and disconnected operational systems.
Bike Shop Network started as a map of roughly 15,000 bike shops across 56 countries. The product has since moved from listing shops to giving them their website, customer app and back-office.
What I built
- Shop websites with stock, booking, deposits and reviews, generated from one back-office.
- The customer app, the workshop board, reminders and the integrations with tills and e-commerce.
- The data pipelines from the original directory — collection, cleaning, enrichment and validation — which still feed onboarding.
What it taught me
- International location data is messy and is never a one-time import.
- A technically possible feature should still be removed when the legal or ethical cost is wrong for the shops.
