Step 5 · Day 5

Cut, then share

Step 5 of 5 6 min read

Remove what slows understanding, send it to five people, and put next month's update in the calendar.

Cut one thing

Open the home page as if you were a stranger. What could go without anyone missing it? A paragraph about your journey, a fifth project, a skills list, an animation. Remove at least one thing. A simple site that is online is worth more than a sophisticated one that is not.

Share it personally

Send it to five people who should know about your work: a past client, a colleague, someone you would like to work with. One line on why you are sending it to them, the link, and a question: “Is it clear what I do?”

Their answers tell you whether the sentence from day 1 works. If two people describe you differently from how you meant, change the sentence, not the people.

Then put it where people look

Your email signature, your social profiles, your CV. A site nobody is pointed to does not exist.

Keep it alive

Put a date in your calendar next month: thirty minutes to add what you did, remove what no longer fits, and check the links. Sites rot when they are only touched in redesigns.

Done when

One thing is cut, five people have the link, and next month’s update is in your calendar. Your site is live. Next version: the “later” list from day 1.

Tick each one once it is true for your project, then move on.
