Build one useful tool in 48 hours

Choose the stack

Step 3 of 7 6 min read

Use what you already know, put an empty page on its final address, and stop choosing.

The best stack is the one you stop thinking about

You have 48 hours. Learning a framework is a different project. Use the language and the tools you already reach for, even if they are not fashionable. An AI assistant makes this easier, not harder: it writes fluently in whatever you know, and you can still read what it writes.

Three decisions, then stop

  1. Where it runs. Browser only, or browser plus a small server. Decided in the last step.
  2. Where it lives. A static host for browser-only tools; a small serverless platform if you need a server. Pick one that deploys from a folder or a repository in one command.
  3. The address. A subdomain of your own domain is best: it is yours forever, and it tells people who made it.

Put an empty page online now

Before writing any feature, deploy a page that says the tool’s name and the one sentence from step one. On its final address, with HTTPS.

This takes thirty minutes and removes the most common reason tools never launch: the deployment turns out to be hard at hour 46. From now on, every change goes live the same way.

Done when

The stack is chosen from what you know, and an empty page is live on the address you will share. Write the deploy command somewhere you will see it.

Step 3 is done when

0 of 2

Tick each one once it is true for your project, then move on.
